Logo creation practice

All Hallows Eve Carnival Poster

In the making of this, value and contrast was a big problem. With the original "All Hallows Eve" text, the value is terrible. But over all I attempted to keep a constant theme with colors and font. Also, I sized the date to be much bigger than any of the other extra text besides the title. The things in the background are also sized to be small.
For contrast I mad sure the colors of the words were brighter and more noticeable. Same fonts and similar bats were set about the poster for repetition. Also the grave stones convey repetition. I aligned the bats to distance off in the background and create a line that moves forward. On proximity, I attempted to balance off the poster with the bats and the tree. the moon is off center to help create more balance too.

All Hallows Eve Text

While making this I learned a bit. I learned how different things that you can do with the apperance tab and many effects. We used transform and distort. Also, there was blending effects and everything. My favorite effect we used during this was the "Pucker and Bloat" effect for the spider web. It amused me greatly. :) I had reviewed how to move a gradient color because I forgot. :P

Water Pollution

   This is my pollution poster.
The elements I used in this are mostly line, size, and color. I used lines to help separate the text and the colors I used a softer greenish and bluish effect. I tried to make the feel of a more dirty. Also, I aligned the droplets into a very crooked line to make it disorganized or "dirty". Lastly for size I ensured certain words were bigger and bolder than others. "1.2 Trillion" seemed like a very stand outy part of the quote therefore I made it the largest. Also, The droplets in the background are smaller and opaque.

Chester! :)

This is my "woof" piece. The hardest parts of it was mostly just to adjust the direction of the fur. I was quite aggrivated trying to figure out how to make the fur go the correct direction and make sense. Also, I don't think anything was particularly easy. I enjoy making shapes with the pen tool though so that is easy. But, overall working with the tools in Adobe Illustrator is alrighty. :)

Typography Applied

Sailboats!

This is my lyric typography. It was done with the lines from the song "Sailboats" by Sky sailing. For these lyrics, I had a lot of trouble. I decided to add shape with the sailboat and stars. The lyrics state that the sailboats wish that they were stars; therefore, I felt that having these two shapes would add a little character. For color I decided to use navy blue, extremely light gray, and white.. The mood of this is soothing and soft. The color blue is associated with tranquility and stability. Also, the light grays and white were to express purity and innocence. The songs lyrics and music sound extremely innocent and soft. I also felt a night or sleeping emotion came with it. And because, horizontal lines are related to sleeping and relaxing therefore I added a terrrible horizon line. For the lyrics, I decided to have it in a vertical line but the sizes of the words differ. I put emphasis on the words "wish", "stars", and "goodbye" by making them the largest. Those words seemed to have the most meaning. With fonts I used two different types, poor richard which is a bit more traditional and straight and lucida handwriting italics which was much more curved and cursive. The words in lucida handwriting were softly, sky, dreams, and goodbye. They gave off a soft vibe therefore I felt they needed a softer font with the curved lines.
The lyrics of the songs are here: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/skysailing/sailboats.html
It is the first 3 lines.

Bears :D

For our "word art" I chose to do the word "Bears". :) Originally it was going to be just bear... but that was not working out.
Anywho, I started with an outline of a tubby bear and then cut the shape up and shaped the slices into letters. the most difficult was most likely the E and the S. Also, when I hear the word "bear" I feel there is more emphasis on the "-ear" part of it so, I ensured that would be big! :D

I'm quite happy with my bear. I absolutely love bears. ♥
